Scarlet Masts

Posted by Julia Hawker on Sunday, February 5, 2017, In : Pictures and Paintings
New picture - 'Scarlet Masts'

When sketching on the shingle beach in Old Town, I was also attracted by the glorious shades of red I saw reflected around me and decided to make these a feature.

The original measur...

Eastbourne Pier

Posted by Julia Hawker on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, In : Pictures and Paintings

A few days ago I meant to share a photo of the start of my latest venture - but I got carried away and it's fairly near completion. This time I've used acrylics to try to do justice to Kay Fenton's amazing photo of Eastbourne pier. I Iove Kay's photo especially because of the hint of rainbow. But please don't look for it as it's not there yet!

Bobbing Boats, Tenby

Posted by Julia Hawker on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, In : Pictures and Paintings

A new painting! 'Bobbing Boats, Tenby'

Tenby's colourful beauty never fails to inspire me. This time i've tried to capture the movement I saw within and on the water. The boats were bobbing cheerfully on the choppy surface of the sea and I could glimpse many pinkish fish below the surface.

Julia's latest painting

Posted by Julia Hawker on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, In : Pictures and Paintings
And here it is, finished at last, my latest painting, called 'Swim To Greet the Sun'. I do hope you like it. I think it's the most colourful one I've painted. The sun beams down on the silent town; only the underwater creatures seem to notice the golden rays piercing the surface of the sea. They swarm towards the light to find ... ?

It was bought after being spotted, very much incomplete, on Facebook. On Sunday, Phil and I had the great pleasure of delivering it to its new owner. Luckily, she ...

First two in a series of four 3D pictures

Posted by Julia Hawker on Thursday, September 11, 2014, In : Pictures and Paintings
Calmly, gently and without any worries in their underwater world, these little golden fish swim by. I composed these relaxing 3D pictures using indelible pen, gorgeously bright watercolour dyes and a touch of gold acrylic. The 3D effect is enhanced beautifully in these extra deep 10" x 10" white frames. They cost £50 each and are the first two in a series of four. Watch this space for the others! Click here to go to 'Beneath the Sea' where these pictures can be seen.

Alfriston Festival update

Posted by Julia Hawker on Monday, September 1, 2014, In : Comments

We took just under £300 and were delighted to donate £30 (plus the Gift Aid) to the JPK Sussex Project - such a fantastic local charity raising money to build the much needed Supported Living Centre for adults with learning difficulties. St Peter Port Harbour

Posted by Phil Hawker on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, In : Pictures and Paintings
As any Guern knows, the town harbour is the most beautiful in the world! There is nothing like the wonderful feeling of home, as I sail into its safe arms, while the sun rises over Herm and Sark, bathing the buildings and the sea in translucent light. Ahhh! - Julia x
